The MTA's plan for its $800 million surplus is characteristically
outrageous. It wants to build a platform over the West Side Rail
Yards and move its headquarters there even though it has already
gone
$300 million over-budget on new headquarters at 2 Broadway. The
MTA
needs to stop throwing money at wasteful projects and start investing
in what matters to New Yorkers: preserving fares and improving
infrastructure.
